The twin lakes of Mikri and Megali Prespa, collectively known as Prespes, are separated by a narrow strip of land and are divided in three countries, known also as the trinational area, among Greece, Albania and FYROM. The area has retained its tranquil natural beauty, and boasts significant Byzantine antiquities and numerous species of birds being kept a remarkably still haven for peace-seeking wildlife and human life alike with only one settlement, the village of Psarades. Prespes receive numerous visitors especially during the Prespes Music Festival, held on the small island of Agios Ahilleios every summer.
