Description of Gythion

The picturesque village of Gytheion is the second largest city of Laconia in the famous area of Mani. Gythion is a town built amphitheatrically on the foothills of Larysios. It is just 42 km far from Sparta and its port is the hub of all ships that sail to Kythira, Crete, etc. There are hotels and rooms for a pleasant stay and many restaurants famous for serving fresh sea food.

Gytheion is 42 km far from Sparta. You can go by bus from Athens. By ferry boat there is a connection between Gytheion, Neapoli, Kythira, Antikythira, Kissamos and Kastelli in Crete.
