Description of Pserimos
Pserimos or
Kapari as it is called by the locals is actually a dot of land in the
Aegean which is usually omitted by the tourist guides of
Dodecanese. It is a place of tranquillity and despite its narrow fame and size is provided with some rooms in
hotels and tourist facilities in general.
Geography of Pserimos
Pserimos spans an area of 14,5 sq. km. with a total population of 130 residents. The islands closer to
Pserimos are
Kalymnos on the west and
Kos on the south.
History of Pserimos
This small island has been actually a follower of the history of the neighboring islands of the
Dodecanese and was several times deserted by its few residents.
Pserimos is mentioned in the list of the islands of
Kalymnos by Homer and is still depended on the larger islands next to it.
Sightseeing on Pserimos
The vast majority of visitors are day-trippers from
Kalymnos or
Kos who wish to enjoy the lovely beaches and good food. The beaches on
Pserimos are: Avlakia, Trevathia, Roussa, Vathi, Marathontas, Korakia and Glistra.
Pserimos is well-known for the good food and the local Dodecanesian cuisine served in the
restaurants on the seafront. There is also a extent boy scout camp that is visited from scouts from all over the world every year.
