Description of Karitena

Karitena is a splendid medieval village of the mountainous part of Arcadia. The Frankish castle of Karitena perched atop a massive rock became a key stronghold for the Greek forces during the War of Independence in 1821. Nowadays, in Karytaina you can find hotels, hostels, rooms for comfortable accommodation and taverns and restaurants with good food.

    

How to get to Karitena

Karitena is 54 km far from Tripoli and 20 km far from Megalopolis. Follow the Corinth-Tripoli highway, pass by Tripoli and then head to Megalopolis, and from there take the road to Karitena.
