According to the legend, the ancient philosopher Euripus disappointed as he was because he was unable to explain the phenomenon of the ebb tide in Chalkida he fell into the waters of the Strait of Euripus and drowned. Today, Halkida is a developed industrial port, a city with attractions such as the Turkish Quarter, Quarter of Muslims from Thrace, the coastal neighbourhoods and the famous fish taverns on the waterfront where you can enjoy a walk.
