It opened in 2004 and soon became one of the favourite dining spots in Santorini. It is called "Metaxy mas" which means.. between us, but it's not a secret any more that this restaurant has a rich menu with almost 40 different dishes and appetizers based on traditional Greek cuisine.
The owner was born and raised in Crete, which is famous worldwide for the healthy and balanced Mediterranean cuisine. So he brought from his birthplace all this knowledge and numerous recipe variations which are absolutely sure to please your palate! The most important thing are the raw materials. The cook prepares his dishes according to the seasonal ingredients he can find on local market and farms.
Taste the pork bites on the pan which is a trademark dish of Metaxy mas. It is cooked only with virgin olive oil, salt and pepper... because the quality of meat is so good, that nothing more is needed! Combine it with Santorini wines or other Greek labels from selected wineries. The fillet veal with vinsanto sauce is also a not-to-be-missed! It blends in harmony the Cretan recipe with the Santorinian sweet wine. Traditional dishes like fava and chickpeas soup are also included in the menu, as well as the fresh fish and seafood.
Mr Chrisoherakis, the owner of Metaxy mas insists on finding the right pure raw materials. And since we tell big truths, here's one more. He revealed that he only uses olive oil of his own production and he insists on finding quality... salt! Yes! The basic ingredient of a dish is always pure salt from the sea, which has not been chlorinated or gone under other chemical processes.
