Over the past decades Mitikas was attracting thousands of Italian tourists who visited it for the picturesque landscape. However, for Greek travelers, it is still a non-so-popular destination, although it is beautiful place!

Mytikas of Aetoloakarnania is built on a pointed piece of land protruding into the waters of the Ionian Sea, on the west coast of Acarnania, between Astakos and Vonitsa and is considered as a unique travel suggestion for those seeking tranquility and relaxation.

The village is built on the foreshore with homes and businesses literally bordering the sea, while a main paved road connects the entrance of the village with its harbor and is ideal for walking, while the afternoon in summer months, it is forbidden for vehicles to pass, so kids get out on bikes, giving the village a playful vibrancy.

Starting from the picturesque Mitika one can visit by boat the islands Kastos and Kalamos or arrive by ferry to Skorpios, Meganissi and Ithaca. By car and only 40 minutes away, you can easily access Lefkada with the incredible and world wide famous beaches. 

Mytikas is ideal for relaxing holidays on the turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea. Being a seaside place it offers visitors the opportunity to enjoy amazing seafood and fish, while the tradition of animal husbandry ensures delicious meat that only a few places in Greece offer!

Although the whole village is an attraction because of the architecture of houses and picturesque landscape, what is really worth visiting is the church Agia Eleoussa, which is literally a small cave on the mountain, with a solemn atmosphere. The view from this point will reward you for the effort to climb up there, as it unfolds in front of you, not only the settlement of Mitika, but also the deep blue waters with Kalamos island "burst out" completely green, and numerous islets of the Ionian. 

Starting from Athens, choose the Athens - Patras highway, cross the Rio Antirio Bridge and head direction to Agrinio. Follow the signs to Aetoliko, Astakos and then Mytikas.
