Description of Gavros
Gavros is a small village populated by only 40 residents and is located 13 km far from Karpenisi. The village of Gavros used to be a rest point for the pilgrims who were going on foot to the monastery of Proussos. Nowadays, Gavros is a tourist resort with modern hotels and guesthouses and picturesque taverns serving local cuisine. It is worth visiting Gavros on the 23rd of August in the feast of Virgin Mary of Proussos where festivities take place.
How to get to Gavros
Gavros is 285 km far from Athens, 380 km far from Thessaloniki and 13 km far from Karpenisi. Starting from Athens take the Athens- Thessaloniki highway, pass by the city of Lamia and follow the signs to Karpenisi and then to Gavros. You will need approximately 4 hours driving from Athens and 5 hours from Thessaloniki.
