Although Greece is a world wide famous destination because of its idyllic islands, you should have in mind that there are modern cities, ideal for citybreaks all year round. Athens is considered as a stop-by, only because it's needed before you take a boat to the islands, but it has much more to offer and you'll need days to see the most of it.
The Greek capital has stood at the center of the world for thousand of years as a leader in philosophy, history, culture and mythology... and there are innumerable monuments to prove that. Thessaloniki as well... It's the home to the homonym Film Festival and the Internation Trade Fair and the host to many cultural events.
It would take pages and pages to tell you about Patras, Ioannina, Heraklion, Rhodes... so we just mention that here, you'll read some interesting articles concerning the cities of our country as travel destinations.

The Athens Tram has been operating since July 2004. The routes of the tram are 3: Thukididis, Aristotelis, Platonas, serving specific regions, but there are also connections with other means of transportation. The ticket rate is 1,40 euro.

Something old, something new.... Marmita combines them both!
The Marmita Restaurant is now a part of the history of Santorini, since it has been operating in Megalochori since 2004. From 2013 it s been running under the observation of new owner Giannis Manikas and the sense of renewal is obvious.

It opened in 2004 and soon became one of the favourite dining spots in Santorini. It is called Metaxy mas which means.. between us, but it is not a secret any more that this restaurant has a rich menu with almost 40 different dishes and appetizers based on traditional Greek cuisine.

Every time someone from Touristorama travels to the island of Santorini, he enjoys authentic Greek cuisine at the terrace of this restaurant in the heart of Fira. And we are not the only ones. Thousands of tourists include it among their favorites on the volcanic island.
Astakas restaurant and the Statue of Poseidon in Milos.
The statue of Poseidon, made of Parian marble, was found in 1877 on Milos island, along with a statue of his mate, Amphitrite. The larger than life-size statue depicts the god almost nude, wearing a himation covering the lower part of the body. In his raised right hand he will have held the trident. Next to his right leg is a support in the form of a dolphin. Today, the statue is exhibited at the National Archaeological Museum in Athens city.

Aktaion - Writing gastronomic history since 1922
Like a relay race of three generations; a journey with happy days, sad days, joys, sorrows, wars, Occupation, poverty, hunger, deaths, volcanic eruptions, catastrophic earthquakes, flee for a better life, return, better days, feasts, tourism explosion, financial crises and so on… Everything has been indelibly inscribed on the walls of this small building, Aktaion. I feel grateful that life has given me the opportunity to hold the reins of Aktaion all the way to its centennial.
