Ampelakia village is located on the foothill of mountain Ossa, or as it’s known nowadays, Kissavos. Its history goes back to 18th century due to its great commercial activities. The colorful threads made of cotton, and especially those in deep red color, were the reason Ampelakia village became famous not only in mainland (Greece) but all over Europe, as well.
The economic prosperity of this village resulted to a higher educational level of its citizens, to a pioneering administrative system -for those times – and to the imposingly mansions which still stand and adorn the village of Ampelakia.
